It has emerged this morning that Conor McGregor (21-3) has allegedly relinquished his UFC featherweight title.

In his most recent outing at UFC 205 the Irishman put on a flawless performance to became the promotions first two division champion by defeating former lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez (28-5) at the world famous Madison Square Garden.

The news that was announced during this mornings UFC Melbourne broadcast means that the man McGregor defeated in 13 seconds at UFC 194 to claim the featherweight belt, Jose Aldo (26-2) has now been upgraded from interim champion to undisputed king of the 145lbs division.

Aldo claimed the interim title back at UFC 200 in July, when he defeated Frankie Edgar (21-5-1) via unanimous decision.

As a result of todays news Anthony Pettis (19-5) will face off against Max Holloway (16-3) for the interim title in the main event of UFC 206, which takes place on December 10 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Canada.

A unification fight for the right to be called the undisputed featherweight champion is expected to take place sometime in 2017, MMA Plus will bring you news on this breaking story as we get it.
