In a night of non-stop action live from London’s Kentish town forum, Cage Warriors marked their 60th show by crowning a new lightweight champion during a one-night tournament. Scotland’s Steven Ray was crowned the king of Cage Warriors 155-pound division when he submitted alternate Sean Carter in the first round of the finals of a four-man tournament.
Carter stepped in to fight Ray in the main event after semi-final winner Ivan Buchinger was forced out of the running, after suffering a rib injury sustained during his come from behind semi-final win over Mick Sinclair.
In the co-main event, Aaron Wilkinson shocked the majority of the fans in attendance, when he scored a 2nd round TKO win over heavy favorite Bola Omoyele.
Omoyele started off well, but seemed to fade drastically in the latter stages of round 1 and had to be helped to his corner by member of his team. This signaled the beginning of the end as a visibly exhausted Omoyele barely made it out for the second and with Wilkinson bearing down on him, the fight would quickly go to the canvas, where the SBG fighter would rain down blows on his opponent, leaving referee Mark Goddard with know choice but to call an end to the fight.
