January 16th.14: Battle Arena – one of the UK’s leading amateur mixed martial arts promotions, have secured a replacement opponent for Johnny Gillan at Battle Arena: Leicester on February 22, due to the withdrawal of Gary Mills whose recovery from a prolonged knee injury hit a setback that forced his withdrawal. Stepping in to face Gillan for the vacant Battle Arena British Middleweight Championship will be the current Battle Arena Southern Regional Champion; Adam Turner from Tokon Academy. This new contest pits the experienced kickboxing of Gillan against Turner’s grappling focused assault.
Battle Arena CEO James Price said: “Adam turner is now fighting Johnny Gillan for the British Middle Weight title. Gary unfortunately had to pull out of the fight due to an on going knee injury. Adam is a strong competitor who’s strength lies in a solid BJJ and wrestling base. Adam is our current southern regional title holder and was next in line for a shot at the title. Both Adam and Johnny are evenly matched and this should be one of the fights of the night.”
