Jamie Bates and Micky Terrill made the journey once again, but this time Bates will play his part in the corner of Training partner Terrill as he steps through the ropes of the 4 man tournament.
Middlesbrough based kickboxing promoter Garry Bell, president of Contender Promotions, took a big risk both financially and reputation wise to give UK fighters the chance to shine on the world stage. Knowing how tough the competition was, Bell knew he had to find some outstanding talent and when Jamie and Micky turned up he knew he had found the next generation.
Tomorrow night live on Eurosport we can see Micky Terrill fighting in a 4 man tournament, fellow fighters hail from Romania and Holland.
Contender Promotions are fast proving that they are in this game for real, using their promotion skills as a stepping stone for fighters. Bell can feel a sense of achievement after a successful Tryout event in May and finding the first fighters to progress onto SuperKombat, the global brand of promoter Eduard Irimia.
It’s clear to see they are serious at what they do and it looks like Contender Promotions are on the road to success. Bell has already revealed some of his plans for the latter parts of 2014 with his Fightstar Hunt rolling out from August, however July 19th will be the first stop of the on going journey.
