Karlos Vemola v Denniston Sutherland (UCMMA Middleweight Title)

In a great night of MMA action UCMMA returned for their 35th show live from London’s Troxy. In the main event of the evening former UFC fighter Karlos “The Terminator” Vemola took on defending middleweight champion Denniston “Mad Max” Sutherland for the gold.

The champion faced a man in Vemola who had never been beyond the 1st round in the UK and many thought this against an aging champion would be in for the same treatment……..They would be wrong. Despite being Vermola getting a big slam at the beginning of the round 1 and implementing his ground and pound game on the champion, Sutherland was able to get back to his feet and indeed score with some offence of his own.

Unfortunately for the champion round 1 would set the tone for the remainder of the night with the challenger dominating the proceedings, on his way to being crowned the new UCMMA middleweight champion via unanimous decision.

Iain Martell vs. Marc Navarro (UK1 Light Heavyweight Title)

In the co-main event the returning Iain “Bad man” Martell defeated Scotland’s Marc Navarro via Unanimous Decision to win the UK1 light heavyweight title.

In the co-main event it was England versus Scotland as fans were treated to UK1 action as the returning Iain Martell squared off against Scotland’s Marc Navarro for the UK1 light heavyweight title. As expected the two combatants’ came rushing out throwing bombs in the opening round. Mid-way throw the round Martell would land a series of knees to Navarro’s head, with his opponent immediately returning fire with a stiff uppercut. As the 1st round neared its conclusion Martell would unleash a beautiful combination which would result in Navarro hitting the canvas.

Round 2 would see both fighters giving as good as they got with Navarro landing well and Martell utilizing his kick and knees well. This round was a pretty close but the Englishman ended the round well unleashing more knees and kicks to his opponent.

Round 3 saw the Scotsman come out blazing, but Martell was would not be fazed by Navarro’s all or nothing approach. With both fighters game till the very last second until the final bell sounded and we go to the judges scorecards, which leads to England’s Martell being declared the winner via unanimous decision.
