In another night of thrills and spills, Ultimate Challenge MMA returned to London’s Troxy’s theater for it’s 36th show this past Saturday.
In the much-anticipated main event Carl Kinslow took on Nick Chapman for the UCMMA light heavyweight title, recently vacated by Bellator bound Linton “The Swarm” Vassell. The fight got off to a flying start with Chapman living up to his “Head Hunter” moniker by flooring his opponent within the opening few second of the fight. Once the fight hit the canvas Chapman would try work some ground n pound on a shaken Kinslow.
Despite being put under pressure from the off, Kinslow would quickly recover and looked the picture of confident off his back, securing an arm in guillotine, forcing Chapman to tap in the opening 2 minutes of round 1 to become the new UCMMA light-heavyweight champion.
In the co-main event current UK1 lightweight champion Jamaine Facey would look to add the vacant UCMMA lightweight title to his collection when he took on Team Crossface’s Charlie Leary.
Despite being the underdog going into he contest Leary would use his well-rounded MMA game to dominate the majority of the action against the leader of BandogsMMA. But In spite of controlling most of the action It was not all one-way traffic as an always game Facey came close to stopping his opponent on a number of occasions during the course of the contest. Despite this pressure Leary would grind out a unanimous decision victory and become the new UCMMA lightweight champion.
