Tyrone Spong is set to make another mixed martial arts appearance against experienced Angel DeAnda in the main event of the World Series of Fighting 4 on August 10.
Spong (1-0) is expected by many to be a future superstar in the sport, as he’s already made his name in the world of kickboxing and racked up an outstanding record of 72-6-1-1. This bout at WSO4 will mark his second MMA appearance, with his first ending in a first-round knockout last November.
His opponent is (11-2) is a shorter, stockier light heavyweight with powerful hands. The American, known as ‘The Dream’, has won his last four fights in a row, finishing each with a TKO via punches.
In the co-main event, huge favourite Marlon Moraes (10-4-1) will take on Brandon Hempleman (9-1) in what promises to be an exciting bantamweight clash.
Moraes is undefeated in four fights, which have included finishes over Jarrod Card and Tyson Nam. He’s also defeated former UFC bantamweight Miguel Torres, which raised his stock and is part of the reason why many expect him to win in his upcoming clash.
Hempleman believes it will be his striking that causes the upset in Ontario, Calif. He’s also hoping his lack of notoriety will help him surprise the heavily-favoured Moraes, as there isn’t much video footage of him to be studied before he steps into the cage.
