Bolton, Greater Manchester – England – August 9th 2013 – Full Contact Contender 7 headliner Brendan Loughnane (5-1) spoke to FCC’s Jamie ‘The Haymaker’ Hay ahead of his September title bout with Tim Close (6-3). Loughnane returns to the North West of England following a successful appearance on The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes, and a highly entertaining UFC bout against Mike Wilkinson.

“He’s got a lot more experience than me. A lot of people have turned me down for this fight, because of the TUF experience. I’m 5-1! I’m not 15-1, I’m 5-1. I’m just glad that Tim’s taken the fight. I’ve had a look at his record and how he fights. He’s had a lot more fights than me, loads of amateur experience. I know he’s a banger, he likes to box and get stuck in. I’m looking forward to an exciting fight.”

Loughnane has been a regular face in the crowd at the last few FCC events. The Greater Manchester-based youngster revealed that his experiences of the show, coupled with its location, weighed heavily on his decision to headline FCC 7.

“I’ve been to the last two (FCC) shows. After the UFC release, there were a lot of offers coming in from all over the world. Australia, America, even Japan. One thing that I do love though…I love fighting in Manchester. I absolutely love fighting in front of my friends and family. It’s something I’ve not been able to do for a while, and I’ve been itching. I’ve been to FCC, it’s a great show. They’ve a great set up, they’re getting good crowds…and they’ve put me on for the title. What more could I ask for?”

Loughnane headlines FCC 7 against Tim ‘The Whirlwind’ Close, on September 7th at Bolton’s Reebok Stadium. Also on the bill, Alex Minogue returns to action against Jordan McClusky, while FCC Amateur Featherweight Champion Josh Jarvis defends his belt against Wayne Tierney.
