Miguel Torres defeated Mark Joromillo via submission (arm bar) in 2 minutes and 40 seconds of the second round at Finke’s Full Contact Challenge which went down in Highland, Indiana, USA.

Lyoto Machida stretched his undefeated streak to 6-0 when he defeated BJ Penn via unanimous decision at K-1’s Hero’s 1 which went down in the Saitama Super Arena, Saitama, Japan.

WEC 33 Back to Vegas: Douglas Marshall vs. Brian Stann was held by World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) that took place at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Stann defeated Marshall via knockout (punches) in 1 minute and 35 seconds of the very first round.

A rematch for the WEC Middleweight Championship between champion Paulo Filho and Chael Sonnen was advertised for this event, but Filho dropped out three weeks prior to the fight for personal reasons. Sonnen remained on the card, and instead faced Bryan Baker, who was pulled from an undercard bout with Logan Clark to face Sonnen. Clark’s new opponent was WEC newcomer Scott Harper. The Filho/Sonnen rematch was later rescheduled for WEC 36 in November 2008, where Sonnen defeated Filho in a non-title match, after Filho failed to make weight.

The event drew an estimated 549,000 viewers on Versus.

Daniel Cormier continued his undefeated streak and defeated John Devine by knockout (punches) in 1 minute and 9 seconds of the very first round at Strikeforce Challengers 7 which went down in the Save Mart Center at Fresno State, Fresno, California, USA. On the same card Meisha Tate defeated Zoila Frausto Gurgel via submissions (armbar) in 4 minutes and 9 seconds of the second round.

TJ Dillashaw made his professional MMA debut and defeated Czar Sklavos via unanimous decision at King of the Cage – Legacy which went down in theSilver Legacy Casino, Reno, Nevada, USA.

UFC Fight Night: Nogueira vs. Davis (also known as UFC Fight Night 24) held by the UFC at the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington.[2]

The event did not lead into the season premiere of The Ultimate Fighter 13 as has been the case for most of that program’s seasonal debuts. That took place on March 30th.

On February 19, 2011, Dana White alerted followers on Twitter that Tito Ortiz had to pull out of his fight with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, after receiving a severe cut on his forehead, and would be replaced by Phil Davis.

On March 5, Duane Ludwig was forced out of his fight with Amir Sadollah due to injury. James Wilks was tapped as his replacement. Wilks then injured himself, and was forced to withdraw from the bout. DaMarques Johnson was the replacement. Also on March 5, Dennis Hallman suffered a knee injury in training and was forced out of his bout against TJ Waldburger. Johny Hendricks stepped in as Hallman’s replacement.

On March 16, Nick Pace was forced out of his bout against Michael McDonald due to suffering an injury. Promotional newcomer Edwin Figueroa stepped in as his replacement.[7]

Also on March 16, a broken foot forced Nam Phan out of his rematch with Leonard Garcia and was replaced by Chan Sung Jung creating a rematch from their fight of the night performance at WEC 48: Aldo vs. Faber, which ended in a controversial decision win for Garcia.

The UFC announced via their official Twitter account that five preliminary bouts would stream on Facebook. This would also be the last UFC event until UFC on Fox: Evans vs. Davis the following year to feature at least one unaired preliminary fight.
