After speculation has run amok over who Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan will face upon his GLORY return, it has been announced by GLORY Kickboxing that he will face Canadian prospect Josh Jauncey Nov. 6 in Monza, Italy.

Many fans were hopeful that a rematch between Petrosyan (78-2-1, 35 KO) and Andy Ristie would be booked for GLORY 25. Despite Ristie’s seeming openness to fight the returning Petrosyan, Jauncey was chosen instead.

22-year-old Jauncey (23-5, 12 KO) has made a name for himself very quickly under the GLORY ranks, is 4-1 in the promotion, which included a Lightweight Contender Tournament final appearance against Sittichai Sitsongpeenong back at GLORY 22.

“This is a must-see match-up between the living legend and the can’t-miss prospect.” said GLORY CEO Jon Franklin. “Jauncey has become a fan favorite very quickly, putting on a spectacular show each time he enters the GLORY ring.

“Petrosyan is currently fifth in the rankings and coming back from a long layoff to reclaim the top spot. Is he still at that level? And Jauncey has been on an absolute tear in the meantime. Is it too early or is he ready to jump into the title talk at only 22 [years old]? These are the questions that will be answered in November.”

As previously reported, GLORY are still set to confirm the participants of the one-night, four-man Welterweight Contender Tournament, for a shot at GLORY Welterweight World Champion Nieky Holzken.
