GLORY Lightweight Josh Jauncey talks about moving away from just being a prospect with a win over Giorgio Petrosyan at GLORY 25 Milan.

Confident in beating Petrosyan, who Jauncey mentioned doesn’t look as good as he once was, the young Canadian star wants to solidify himself as one of the best at 70kg in the world with a win over the former pound-for-pound king.

“It’s bound to happen, in every fighter’s career where he takes the next step to the next level and you’re always going to be the underdog in that situation. He has already hit his prime, he’s been through it, great, all that, but he’s on the decline and I’m on the way to my prime so this is perfect timing for me.”

“He is not the same one, he is not the same Petrosyan, he’s still very good of course, he’s still nearly untouchable by those guys, but nearly, nearly untouchable.”

Jauncey also talks about a win over Petrosyan potentially putting him next in line for a GLORY Lightweight world title shot and champion Robin van Roosmalen picking him to defeat Petrosyan.

“I appreciated it, Robin is a really nice guy, we get along, it’s nice to see that. He saw me doing pads the other day, we know a lot of the same people and maybe he’s heard something from some of my training partners that I’ve brought over from Holland that I’m looking pretty good. Because he knows what I know”
