Giorgio Petrosyan after winning GLORY 3: Rome lightweight tournament

GLORY Kickboxing heads to Monza, Italy for GLORY 25 Milan, in what is expected to be one of the biggest events in the promotion’s three and a half year history.

The PalaIper seats 4,500 fans and will be overflowing with pride, as Italy’s own Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan makes his triumphant homecoming after almost 24 months away from the GLORY ring.

Meeting the K-1 legend will be one of the brightest young stars in the GLORY ranks, Canada’s own Josh Jauncey, who will be looking to spoil the party for Petrosyan and his fans.

For a while now in GLORY, Jauncey has been defined as a prospect. However, after a successful 2014, with wins over Warren Stevelmans and Jae Gil Noh, the Canadian took it to the next level at the start of 2015.

Beginning brightly with a TKO over Max Baumert at GLORY 19, Jauncey went into the GLORY 22 Lille -70kg Contender Tournament as one of the favourites.

Despite a TKO win against Coulibaly Djime in the semi-final, Jauncey fell to the much more experienced Sittichai Sitsongpeenong in the finale.

Petrosyan; who you can expect to showcase supreme boxing skills, has the pressure of erasing his knockout loss to Andy Ristie at GLORY 12 in front of his home crowd. Should he rise to the occasion he could find himself next in line for the -70kg belt.

Interestingly, the Lightweight Champion Robin van Roosmalen has tipped Jauncey for the win against the Italian favourite.

“Pokerface” van Roosmalen will defend his -70kg crown against Contender winner Sittichai, in a fight which could produce explicit fireworks at GLORY 25 Milan.

At GLORY 22 Lille, Sittichai proved himself to be the most prolific Thai fighter to make the switch to GLORY Kickboxing beating both former champion Davit Kiria and Jauncey.

The former Lumpinee Stadium Champion has a punishing style and should he intrude on the inside against RvR he may find dangerous success.

The past two fights in GLORY have arguably been van Roosmalen’s most impressive. Dominant showings over both Kiria and Ristie, the Dutchman did well to keep both fighters on the outside whilst landing his quick, high volume combinations.

It’s a contrast in styles for van Roosmalen and Sittichai, however one which should make for an electric match-up in Milan.

Also on the GLORY 25 Milan cards, a GLORY four-man Welterweight tournament, with the winner set to face Champion Nieky Holzken at GLORY 24 Amsterdam in December.  Murthel Groenhart faces Italy’s Nicola Gallo in the first semi-final, with Yoann Kongolo vs. France Karim Ghajji in the second bracket.

On the GLORY 25 Milan SuperFight Series, slick Canadian Gabriel Varga makes his first GLORY Featherweight title defence against low-kick specialist Sergey Adamchuk in a potential Fight of the Night.
