GLORY SuperFight Series

In the main event of the GLORY SuperFight Series; from the Hampton Colosseum in Hampton, Virginia, Andy Ristie showed why he is the toughest challenge to Robin van Roosmalen’s lightweight championship, knocking down Steve Moxon three times for an emphatic victory.

Moxon came out firing from the start, and landed some good, powerful shots, which Ristie weathered well. The Surinamese fighter quickly regained control, dropping the Australian with a double knee and left hook combination. Moxon recovered before another left body shot put him to the canvas. Moxon couldn’t revive from a third, as a big right hand ended the fight for “Stone Cold.”

Xavier Vigney looked excellent in his win over Everett Sims, finishing with a first round TKO. Vigney asserted dominance from the bell, which paid off dropping Sims with a flurry of right hands and left hook. Sims would recover, but it wouldn’t take much longer for a superb left hook to drop Sims again, forcing Al Wichgers to stop the fight.

A resilient performance from Josh Jauncey in the GLORY SuperFight Series helped him pick up the victory over Max Baumert after being dropped in the final second of round two by a crisp left hook. Jauncey looked strong in the first with some good counter striking, as Baumert looked to fight on the inside. In the second the Canadian continued his counter boxing, as well as landing a nice high right kick. But it was Baumert who clinched a knockdown at the death of two, with a left hook sending Jauncey stumbling. The German tried to assert pressure immediately in round three, but Jauncey caught him with a right knee which caused a deep cut over the left eye of Baumert, meaning the doctors called time on the fight.

Also in the GLORY SuperFight Series, Light-heavyweight Brian Collette bounced back from a knockout loss to Zack Mwekassa at GLORY 18, winning a unanimous decision (29-27, 29-27, 29-27) over a tough Myron Dennis. It was Dennis who pushed the pace in round one, having landed a nice big front kick. However Collette threw more in volume in the second, with some superb combinaitons, as he targeted the body of Dennis well. A flash right kick would knock down Dennis in the third, securing another Virginia fighter the win.

In the welterweight division, Cameroon’s Ambang; fighting out of Virginia, scored an emotional second round knockout win over Stephen Richards, finished with the big right hand that dropped Richards straight to the mat. It was Richards who looked promising in the first round, using some eloquent boxing to push Ambang in the corner, however the US fighter showed great ability with his counter striking. This would come full circle in the second, as Jamaica’s Richards again tried pushing his opponent into the corner, but “Bang Bang” would land two right hands to gain space, and finish with another right for the finish.
