After two shows in the United States to start off the new year, GLORY returns to Europe for GLORY 39 this Saturday afternoon, taking place at Forest National in Brussels, Belgium. And if today is any indication, the main event between current champion, Cedric Doumbe (65-4-1) and No.1-ranked contender Yoann Kongolo (64-8) should be an explosive one.

Earlier today, the fighters hit the scale to weigh in for both the GLORY 39 and GLORY 39 Superfight Series fight cards, and tempers began to flare after Doumbe put his hand in Kongolo’s face. The Swiss challenger slapped it away and Doumbe responded with a two-handed shove, which lead to GLORY officials stepping in to prevent the incident from escalating any further. Cooler heads prevailed and order was restored, but the level of tension has certainly ratcheted up for tomorrow’s main event.

The two welterweights have met in the ring two other times, at GLORY 22 and at Jurafight, with Kongolo winning both by unanimous decision. The bout will be the first attempted title defense for Doumbe, who won the title in December after defeating Nieky Holzken by spit decision at GLORY COLLISION.

In addition to the main event, the co-main features a heavyweight matchup between the No.4-ranked contender, Jamal Ben Saddik (31-5) and Guto Inocente (33-7). The customary one-night, four-man “Contender” tournament will take place in the featherweight division. In the semi-finals, former champion Serhiy Adamchuk (31-7) faces Nafi Bilalovski (17-4) and Petchpanomrung Kiatmookao (154-35-2) takes on  newcomer Alexey Ulyanov (21-2-1).

Earlier today, the fighters hit the scale to weigh in for both the GLORY 39 and GLORY 39 Superfight Series fight cards.
