Glory have this evening announced a featherweight showdown will headline the kickboxing promotions first event of 2017 which will take place in the sunshine state of California.

In the main event of Glory 37, fresh off his historic win at Glory 34 newly crowned featherweight champion Robin “Pokerface” van Roosmalen (36-6, 20 KO) makes the first defence of his title against Matt “Matics” Embree (39-7, 18 KO).

After a highly successful run at lightweight, including a stint as champion, Van Roosmalen dropped down for his featherweight debut at GLORY 34 SuperFight Series in October, defeating then-champion Gabriel Varga in a dominant performance to capture GLORY gold once again. At just 27 years old, Van Roosmalen is the first fighter to hold titles in two separate GLORY weight classes.

The 27-year-old challenger, hailing from Toronto, Canada, made his GLORY debut just one month earlier at GLORY 33 New Jersey, where Embree tore through the four-man contender tournament, knocking out both Chibin Lim and Giga Chikadze in a single night.

The vent is also expected to include a four-man welterweight contender tournament and additional bouts for both Glory 37 Los Angeles and Glory 37 Super Fight Series will be announced shortly.

Glory 37 and the Glory 37 SuperFight Series will take place at  The Novo in the L.A. LIVE entertainment complex in Downtown Los Angeles on Friday, January 2017.
