Michael Wakeling vs Chad Sugden

Top muay thai promotion the Main Event have this evening announced a mouthwatering K-1 clash between fast rising star Chad “2Slick” Sugden (12-3) who faces the toughest challenge of his career in the form of double World champion Michael “The Punisher” Wakeling (29-1-1).

At the tender age of 20-years old and under the guidance of his father and trainer Dean Sugden, Newark based Sugden has already achieved a lot in his short career, largely considered as one of the best kickboxers the UK has produced in recent memory. Despite having competed 15 times as a professional “2Slick” is not short of experience having competed in over 100 amateur bouts, he is the current holder of the ISKA oriental rules world title, and possesses a number of European and world titles.

29 year old Wakeling, who fights out of the famous Scorpion gym in London, hails from a famous fighting family and like his brother Stephen he has won European and world honours in muay thai as a middleweight. Making the jump to the kickboxing circuit as well, he holds key victories over Ali Gunyar and Pajonsuk Superpro en route to collecting the Enfusion 75kg World title last year.

Is Sugden the man to end Wakeling’s 10-year unbeaten run? Or will Wakeling continue his win streak and deny the man from Newark the biggest win of his career?
