MTGP 6: Tsigkos vs. Khalifa poster

An eventful night of Muay Thai from the Indigo O2, culminated with Salah Khalifa defeating Giannis Tsigkos to claim the MTGP Super-Welterweight title.

The Minotaurs fighter used his range well, bouncing in and out to carefully grind down Tsigkos for the win. The Grecian fighter put up a great effort, and showed short bursts of power throughout the fight.

However, it was Khalifa’s superior activity and his slick striking which allowed him to take the unanimous decision win and claim the MTGP Super-Welterweight title.

In the best fight of the night, Team Tieu’s Carlton Lieu defeated perennial Lion Fight Light-Welterweight contender Asa Ten Pow in a title eliminator bout.

Elsewhere, Muay Thai Grand Prix awarded Kerry Haynes with Fight of the Night honours.

The fighter from Milton Keynes was one of the most popular at MTGP 6, and enacted an emotional response from the crowd when she defeated Mina Lamoure to win the the ISKA English title. Haynes put a beating on Lamoure, completely overwhelming her from the onset.
