In case you didn’t know, today is national Kids Superhero Day in the U.K. To celebrate such a fantastic cause, it seems fitting to share some superb charity work that recently took place in the North East of England.
Working with Made 4 The Cage promoter Dale Percival, Contender Promotions’ Garry Bell and Mark Hetherington took part in a charity kickboxing match on April 23rd to raise money for three year-old William in his battle against muscular dystrophy.
However, there was one slight twist. Both Hetherington and Bell dressed up as popular comic book superheroes Batman and Superman – William’s favourite DC characters.
Muscle-wasting conditions such as muscular dystrophy are very rare, and only affect just over one in every 1,000 people.
The event raised £5700 and Dale Percival has now booked a two week trip for William and his family to visit to Disneyland Florida in July.
Garry and Mark also awarded William with a glove signed by kickboxing legend Melvin Manhoef.
Happy Superhero Day.
Oh and SPOILER!!!
Unlike the cinematic blockbuster, Superman actually got a win over Batman. That makes it 1-1. Trilogy anyone?
