Unlike most shows, the UFC did not host ceremonial weigh-ins today instead, all fighters hit the scale 10 a.m. ET for the official weigh-ins, which were closed to the public.
Dennis Bermudez vs “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung is now official after both fighters made weight ahead of their fight at UFC Fight Night Houston this Saturday.
Jung was first to step on the scales as he returns to action this weekend for the first time in over three years after serving mandatory military service in his native South Korea. The Korean weighed in at 145.5 pounds before Bermudez then followed weighing in at the exact same weight of 145.5 pounds.
In the co-main event, rising star Alexa Grasso weighed in without clothing to make 116 pounds for what will be her second appearance in the UFC after debuting last year. The newcomer will look to make it 2-0 under the promotion when she steps into the Octagon this weekend. Her opponent Felice Herrig was next to stop on the scales and weighed in at 115.5 pounds; the UFC veteran is hoping to pick up her second consecutive victory after defeating Kailin Curran in her last outing.
Only one fighter failed to make weight for this weekend’s card; Bec Rawlings came in at 117.5 pounds, 1.5 pounds over the strawweight limit of 116 pounds for a non-title fight. Rawlings stepped on the scales well before the final deadline to weigh in this morning after coming to the decision she was unable to shed the extra pound and a half to make weight.
Her opponent this weekend Tecia Torres stepped on the scales with no problem weighing in at 115.5 pounds meaning she will receive 20% of Rawlings purse as a penalty for missing weight.
Angela Hill’s UFC stole the show at the earlier weigh-ins when she channeled her inner “Street Fighter”, TUF alumni dressed up as character Sagat wrapping up her hands and putting on his signature eye patch before her face-off with fifth-ranked strawweight Jessica Andrade.
