The weigh-ins for Bellator 137: Halsey vs. Grove have been completed for the event tonight at the Cabaret Theatre inside the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California, and features a confusing situation in the main event after middleweight champion Brandon “Bull” Halsey (8-0) failed to make weight for his title defence against veteran Kendall “Da Spyda” Grove (21-14).
Halsey missed weight by 3.1lbs, and thus is forced to vacate the title should he leave California victorious. Nothing changes for Grove, as he can still win the middleweight crown should he defeat Halsey.
The co-main event was originally slated as a bantamweight battle between former 135-pound champion Eduardo “Dudu” Dantas (16-4) and Mike “The Marine” Richman (18-5), but after Richman missed weight by 3.8lbs the fight looked to be called off. However this morning, Bellator confirmed both men had reached an agreement and the fight would go on as scheduled.
Also, Two hometown welterweights collide as proclaimed Cinderella Man Fernando “The Menifee Maniac” Gonzalez (23-13) looks to build on his current impressive three fight win streak, including the scalps of: Karl Amoussou, Karo Parisyan and Marius Zaromskis against a young Curtis “Curtious” Millender (7-1) who lost to Brennan “Irish Bad Boy” Ward at The British Invasion event.
