Bellator 179: London takes a major hit, losing co-main event star Michael “Venom” Page through injury.

Page was scheduled to face Derek Anderson at the Wembley Arena event on May 19, but a report from Telegraph journalist Gareth A. Davies on Wednesday night confirmed the Brit was out due to a knee injury suffered in training.

The all-British light-heavyweight feature bout between former Bellator champion Liam McGeary and Linton Vassell will now serve as the co-headline bout.

MVP has yet to comment on his withdrawal from the event.

The Brit has been relatively coy since the announcement of his fight, after being shafted by the promotion from a potential fight against newfound rival Paul Daley. Instead, “Semtex” faces Rory MacDonald in London, with the winner receiving a welterweight title shot against the winner of Douglas Lima vs. Lorenz Larkin.

Bellator 179: London will be broadcast on Spike TV UK from 9pm, Friday May 19, moving to Channel 5 at 10pm for the main card.
