When it comes to unorthodox training methods, Duane Ludwig’s use of marijuana while studying film might just be the most unusual.
A kickboxing specialist and UFC veteran, Ludwig has taken over as head coach at Team Alpha Male, and has seen astonishing results in the mere four months he’s been there. His unique approach includes watching films of fights under the influence of marijuana.
Via mmamania.com, Ludwig said: “It’s freakin legal. Let me address the issue. When I watch film, I watch film normal like I am now. Then I watch film when I’m high on marijuana. I also watch the film when I have Alpha Brain in my system. I watch the film from three different states of consciousness just to get different looks at things. Just to see if I missed a step or a nice little detail just to get different looks on thing. I take this serious as hell.”
Founded by Urijah Faber in 2004, Team Alpha Male is made up of a host of talented fighters and UFC standouts, including Joseph Benavidez, Chad Mendes, Danny Castillo and TJ Dillashaw, with five gym members on the UFC books having racked up nine wins with no defeats since Ludwig arrived.
