May 12th, 2014 – Europe’s flagship Mixed Martial Arts promotion, BAMMA, has announced a further bout to “BAMMA Fight Night: Askham vs. Nunes” as Ed Arthur faces Mike Cutting in a Bantamweight bout. The event marks the launch of BAMMA’s ‘Fight Night’ series which brings the show to regional fans and offers a proving ground for upcoming talent. Taking place at the O2 Guildhall in Southampton on 7th June 2014 the event also sees the headline fighters clash for the BAMMA World Middleweight title. Tickets are on sale at Ticketmaster or from 023 8063 2601.
Brazilian jiu jitsu blackbelt Michael ‘Gip’ Cutting holds a professional MMA record of 4-2 and fights out of Kyouken MMA in Hampshire. Cutting has faced some heavily more experienced competition and has attained all his victories via Submission, the majority by Rear Naked Choke and 1 by Inverted Heel-Hook. Cutting has also earned the Into the Cage Bantamweight belt. Much was expected of his scheduled bout against Paddy Pimblett at OMMAC 17, from which Cutting was forced to withdraw just days away from the fight.
In what many people heralded Fight of the Night at BAMMA 15, Ed Arthur defeated Nathaniel Wood in the 3rd round via Submission (RNC) to take his record to 3-0-0. The undefeated 24 year old also retained an unblemished record through the Amateur ranks, with a significant number of his fights finished in the 1st round. Arthur trains out of Hemel Martial Arts with Denniston Sutherland and first wowed BAMMA fans at BAMMA 14 when he devastated Ben Rees to earn a Doctor Stoppage from Ground n Pound in the 1st round.
BAMMA’s Matchmaker Jude Samuel said:

”Ed Arthur has stated that he’s going to go undefeated in 2014 to reach his goal of winning the BAMMA World Bantamweight Title. However, he first has to get past the roadblock that is Micheal “Gip” Cutting, who will bring huge hometown support and poses a serious threat in the cage. This fight is going to be an absolute barn burner and certainly one not to be missed at BAMMA’s very first Fight Night”
