In the main event of ACB 87, Scotland’s Robert Whiteford came out on top in the battle of the UK featherweights to earn a close split decision victory over England’s Kane Mousah.
From the outset, both fighters would look to press the action, with neither Glasgow’s Whiteford or his Mancunian counterpart Mousah willing to concede any ground to each other.
But it would be the 35-year old, 6-fight UFC veteran who would edge the grappling exchanges pressing the man nicknamed “The Danger” up against the fence and repeatedly taking him to the ground, then controlling a game Mousah to take the win on two of the three judges scorecards.
For the Allpowers Gym trained Mousah he would give as good as he got during the 15-minutes fight, displaying some crisp striking while showing he was not out of his depth when the fight hit the deck but it would not be enough for him to get the nod in the eyes of the judges.
The 14-fight card which took place at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, England marked the promotions 5th appearance in the United Kingdom and the full results can be found below:
