Korean welterweight Hyun Gyu Lim will step up to face Tarec Saffiedine at the UFC’s first event in Singapore.
MMA Junkie reported the 12-3-1 prospect would replace Jake Ellenberger in the main event slot of UFC FIght Night 34 after ‘The Juggernaut’ was forced to withdraw due to an injury.
Ellenberger’s withdrawal was first reported by Brazilian source Combate.
Lim will be the first UFC opponent for Saffiedine, who was the last Strikeforce welterweight champion.
The Belgian, who will step into the cage after a year-long layoff is now likely to be the favourite in the fight, but ‘The Ace’ is unlikely to be a pushover.
He is an absolutely gigantic welterweight and has notched two impressive KO wins so far in his octagon career against Pascal Krauss and Marcelo Guimarães.
Saffiedine vs. Lim is yet to be officially confirmed by the UFC.
UFC Fight Night 34 is set to take place on January 4. The fight card is set to be filled by the following contests:
