Ian McCall just can’t catch a break.

The Flyweight’s bout against Neil Seery at UFC Fight Night 99 in Belfast has today been scrapped after McCall (13-5-1) was forced to pull out of the fight due to an illness.

The bad luck continues for “Uncle Creepy” who has had four fights in succession cancelled for various reasons keeping him out of the cage since January 2015.

Firstly a tear to the Californian’s shoulder forced him to pull out out of a scheduled fight with Dustin Ortiz at UFC FN 73 in August 2015. On returning a year later, he was twice left without an opponent when Justin Scoggins had weight cut issues at UFC 201 leading to him eventually moving to Bantamweight and then Ray Borg took ill due to effects of his weight cut at UFC 203.

Third time didn’t turn out to be lucky this year for McCall after he seems to have been struck down with similar issues to his previous opponent.

Unfortunately it means Flyweight veteran Neil Seery (16-12) has been left with no opponent in what was supposed to be his last ever fight before retirement.

The 37-year-old spoke to MMAjunkie.com after the news broke and has expressed he felt “disgusted” by it all but will look for another fight as he “can’t go out like that”.

“Nothing I say is going to change a thing – it’s disappointing. I’m, disgusted really,” Seery said. “To be honest, I don’t even know if I’m going to go to the show. It’s happened to me before when I fought for a previous promotion. It was the exact same thing, and I stood on the scales and I went to the show and it’s just heartbreaking watching everyone else do that walk. I put a hell of a lot into this. I was offered the fight probably 10 weeks ago and I put everything on hold.”

UFC Fight Night 99 takes place at the SSE Arena in Belfast and will be live on UFC Fight Pass from 17:15GMT this Saturday night.
