The spotlight is on Ronda Rousey and Bethe Correia ahead of UFC 190 in Brazil, but the PPV undercard also includes a crucial strawweight match-up between Claudia Gadelha and Jessica Aguilar.

Taking place at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on August 1, Gadelha and Aguilar with face off to decide the number one contender for Joanna Jędrzejczyk’s 115lb world championship.

Gadelha (12-1) hasn’t fought since December, 2014; due to reoccurring back issues, her losing effort against Jędrzejczyk in Pheonix, Arizona.

‘Claudinha’ had gone 11 fights unbeaten before her loss to the currant champion, and some still question her split decision defeat to Jędrzejczyk.

As for Aguilar (19-4), she makes her UFC debut after dominating the competition over in Bellator and World Series of Fighting. The former WSOF 115lb champion, JAG was considered by many the best strawweight outside of the UFC.

Her signing to the promotion an effort to prove who the best 115lber in the world truly is.

However, Aguilar must defeat Gadelha in Brazil before a dream ‘champion vs. champion’ bout can transpire, but in a recent interview with MMA PLUS Jędrzejczyk squashed Aguilar’s chances.

“I want to be there, this fight is going to give us the next challenger for title fight, I want to be there in Brazil August 1, but I think Claudia Gadelha has more chance to win this fight.

“Aguilar she is talking too much, first she must show to everyone that she is good. We will see what happens on August 1.”

She added, “Gadelha is going to beat her up.”

Regardless who wins, Jędrzejczyk will have a tough challenge on her hands for her next defence.
