The first UFC event in mainland China could receive an interesting matchup, with Anderson Silva slated to face Kelvin Gastelum in Shanghai.

The story was initially reported by FloCombat, but Brazilian website Combate.com have since confirmed that the promotion is indeed working on this fight for the November 25 event.

Since his win against Derek Brunson at UFC 208, Silva has toyed with the idea of retirement after not being selected to fight Yoel Romero for the interim-middleweight title at UFC 212 in Brazil.

Silva and Gastelum were originally scheduled to feature on that June event, but the bout was scrapped after Gastelum tested positive for marijuana and was suspended for six months by USADA.

Gastelum is coming off a submission loss to Chris Weidman in July at UFC Long Island. Following the loss, Gastelum showed intent to return back to the welterweight division, but a potential fight against “The Spider” seems to have made the former TUF winner change his plans.

UPDATE: On August 16, the UFC officially confirmed that Anderson Silva vs. Kelvin Gastelum will headline their UFC Shanghai event on November 25. The event will be exclusively broadcasted on UFC Fight Pass.
