The UFC welcomes another British fighter to its ranks, as James Mulheron makes the step up to compete at UFC Glasgow.

South Shields own Mulheron (11-1) immediately has himself a fight, as he replaces an injured Mark Godbeer to face American kickboxer Justin Willis on July 16.

“The Juggernaut” joins the UFC as the number one ranked Heavyweight in the UK, according to Tapology’s rankings system. Indeed, it is hard to argue against this, as the Trojan Sport fighter is currently on a four-fight winning streak.

With the exception of one fight under the Bellator banner, Mulheron has to date, only fought for North Eastern promotion Made 4 The Cage where he has bested veterans such as Stav Economou and Neil Wain. His only loss came against Austria’s

The sole loss of Mulheron career came against Ruben Wolf at M4TC 16 but he would avenge that setback this past February when he would defeat the Austrian by unanimous decision.

With Godbeer out, Mulheron steps in to face an interesting prospect when he makes his promotional debut against Justin Willis (4-1). The AKA Kickboxing fighter is too on a four fight win streak, picking up wins under the WSOF and IGF banners. A big heavyweight, Willis’s scheduled debut against Marcin Tybura at UFC 208 was cancelled due to weight cutting issues, thus the American will be hoping to finally get into the octagon against the third opponent booked against him.

Though little is known of the injury that has caused Godbeer’s withdrawal, it is a huge blow for the Bridgwater fighter, who recently travelled to Jackson-Wink MMA in preparation for the fight. The former BAMMA and Bellator veteran was looking for his second UFC win, having bested Daniel Spitz in his last outing.
