Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino has issued a length statement via her Instagram account following yesterday’s news of a failed drug test that had was flagged by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) on December 5 2016.

In the statement Justino (17-1-1) revealed that she had tested positive for the drug Spironolactone which is a potassium-sparing diuretic (water pill) that prevents your body from absorbing too much salt and keeps your potassium levels from getting too low.

According to reports the 31-year old Brazilian who has been undefeated for over a decade can expect to receive a 12 month suspension for the offence.

Cyborg’s full statement reads:

At the time of writing this report Invicta featherweight champion has been temporarily suspended until her case can be brought before the relevant authorities but MMA Plus will keep up to date with this story as we get it.
