In news that will surely send shockwaves throughout women’s mixed martial arts the Ultimate Fighting Championships has today announced the signing of Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino.
Cyborg (15-1-1) who is considered by many to be the most feared fighter in the sport will make her long awaited promotional debut against veteran Leslie Smith (8-6-1) at UFC 198 in a fight, which is believed, will be contested at a 140 pounds catchweight.
The 30-year old who hails from Curitiba in Brazil has been on the rampage since losing on professional debut, going on a undefeated run that has seen her stop 13 of her 15 opponents and has seen her pick up the Strikeforce and Invicta 145lbs titles along the way.
Her opponent Smith has gone 2-2 since made her UFC debut at the TUF Nations Finale in April 2014, scored a unanimous decision win over Japan’s Rin Nakai at UFC Fight Night 85 earlier this month.
UFC 198 takes place on Saturday, May 14th 2916 in Curitiba, Brazil and will be headlined by a heavyweight title showdown which sees heavyweight kingpin Fabricio Werdum take on Stipe Miocic.
