Dominick Cruz has apologised to Kenny Florian after mocking him during his post fight interview at UFC Fight Night 81 in Boston.

Fresh off his victory over TJ Dillashaw, with the belt strewn over his shoulder, Cruz made fun of Florian who had been suspended from his duties as a Fox Sports analyst the previous day after allegations of plagiarism.

The controversy arose after it appeared the former welterweight had blatantly copied the work of boxing analyst, Lee Wylie, in a column previewing Saturday night’s main event.

At the end of his interview with Joe Rogan, Cruz warned Florian: “Stop copy and pasting.”

But speaking on his podcast Florian harboured no hard feelings:

“I talked to Dominick and he apologised to me. He said his emotions were running high and I get it. When I was fighting, you get emotional and you almost take it personally. Dominick is such a competitive dude that he took it personal. I picked T.J. and the only reason I picked T.J. was, yes, not only is he a great fighter, but Dominick hadn’t competed in so long. With all the injuries, that’s why I went with Dillashaw. It was nothing personal and that’s why I hate working with some of these guys because you do become very friendly. Picking fights is probably my least favourite thing to do. You don’t want to offend anyone and I’m sure Dominick was probably offended by that but listen, the best revenge is getting the win and that’s exactly what he did.”

Even though the two will not be sharing the Fox Sports studio any time soon perhaps they can laugh about it all over a beer.
