Over the last couple of days there have been reports stating that the potential superfight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor was close to being finalised, if not done so already.

The UFC lightweight champion pulled out of an event in Dublin this week to fly to Las Vegas, with The S-n falsely claiming that he was travelling to finalise a deal to make the fight with Mayweather happen.

McGregor is currently in the States making an anti-bullying video for children, a stipulation of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, who will sanction the fight, after he threw a water bottle at Nate Diaz during the UFC 202 pre-fight press conference.

Last night the former boxing champion took to Twitter to ‘set the record straight’ in regards to any future fights.

It is of no surprise that Mayweather has stated he will be the first to tell the world if an agreement is made between him and the UFC lightweight champion. The 39-year-old’s post on Twitter did not go unnoticed, hours later “The Notorious” responded in typical McGregor fashion as he continued to taunt Mayweather.

The Irishman knows how to pick his moves carefully and despite only saying those few words the picture paints a different story. Sitting himself on a throne whilst stating he is in Las Vegas and uploading posts calling it ‘his city’ is all ways in which McGregor is trying to make his mark in the place where Mayweather has built his legacy.

McGregor’s response clearly seemed to get under the skin of Floyd who once again responded, stating if he wants this fight he first has to take care of business with the UFC, who would in any case be the party negotiating on the side of Conor.

Yesterday, UFC President Dana White told TMZ that ‘there is no deal’.

This fight is a running story which is yet to hit its peak but certainly one to keep an eye on.
