Jessica Penne feels she is ready to face the strawweight phenomenon, Joanna Jędrzejczyk, when the pair collide at the O2 World, Berlin on Saturday, June 20 for UFC Berlin.

Title challenger Jessica Penne believes Berlin is her opportunity to show she is the best in the division: “I think it’s great, I’m in this sport to be number one and to prove it.”

Jędrzejczyk makes her first title defence since winning the belt in a dominating showing against Carla Esparza at UFC 185 in March, a bout where strong grappler Esparza was completely shut out by the Polish champion. Despite her takedown defence, Penne is still confident that she will be able to initiate the takedown, and score the submission win on Saturday night.

“I think Carla and I are completely different fighters and we have different strengths and weaknesses.” She added, “I feel that I can Joanna down and submit her.”

Should Penne get past Jędrzejczyk in Berlin, there are still a lot of intriguing match ups for her to entertain at strawweight, one including a rematch against newly signed Michelle Waterson, whom Penne lost to back in 2013 at Invicta FC 5.

Penne said: “When I heard she was coming over and the speculation, I asked for her, but they said that she has to work her way up.”
