Joanna Jędrzejczyk makes her first UFC strawweight title defence on Saturday, August 20, in Berlin where she meets strong grappler Jessica Penne in the UFC Berlin main event.

Jędrzejczyk has only had three fights in the UFC, with the most recent her title winning performance over Carla Esparza at UFC 185 in Dallas, Texas.  Despite this, she is already looking like one of the most talented female fighters to ever grace the sport, and she is embracing that moniker.

“I have the best striking in the division, no one can handle it,” said Jędrzejczyk.

After punishing Esparza, Jędrzejczyk feels although Penne is not as good of a wrestler as the former Invicta champion, but her overall game is better.

“I know she is different than Carla, she is not as good a wrestler as Carla, but she knows how to make the combinations between the boxing, wrestling and the ground game. So, it’s going to be an interesting fight.”

The Polish champion also stated: “I want to be a legend,” and believes that she can help the strawweight division become bigger than the Ronda Rousey’s bantamweights.

In the ever growing 115lb division, the UFC are always looking to make new stars, and with the recent signing of former WSOF champion Jessica Aguilar, who will meet Claudia Gadelha at UFC 190 in Brazil.

“I want to be there, this fight is going to give us the next challenger for title fight, I want to be there in Brazil August 1, but I think Claudia Gadelha has more chance to win this fight. Aguilar she is talking too much, first she must show to everyone that she is good. We will see what happens on August 1.”

She added, “Gadelha is going to beat her.”

As for Saturday night, the champion predicted: “It’s going to be a crazy night in Berlin, everyone must be there.”
