“Korean Superboy” Doo Ho Choi has been forced to pull out of his featherweight bout with Andre Fili at UFC 214 after suffering a “serious injury” during his preparations and faces a long spell on the sidelines.

Initially reported by popular MMA media figure Robin Black on Twitter, Choi anticipated being kept out of action until at least October however a later update revealed that he hoped for an earlier return with rehabilitation.

The 26-year-old has become an immensely popular figure with fight fans since joining the UFC in 2014 with his all-action style and tough durability. The featherweight prospect enjoyed success in Japan under the DREAM banner and put together a 12-fight win streak before losing to fellow ranked contender Cub Swanson in 2016’s “Fight of the Year” effort at UFC 206 back in December.
