After a somewhat subdued performance at the press conference in LA on Tuesday, Conor McGregor finally showed why he is the master of trash talk when he verbally took down Showtime and Floyd Mayweather in Toronto.

Last night in Toronto “The Notorious” looked like he was thriving with full access to a microphone as he opened with a barrage of words which saw him lead the crowd into a unified chant of “f*ck the Mayweathers” before turning his attention to Showtime Sports vice president Stephen Espinoza.

Espinoza was at the epicentre of the UFC champion’s rant after his microphone was seemingly cut off during day one of the Mayweather vs. McGregor World Tour in LA. McGregor revealed on Tuesday night that he was not told he’d be making a speech, in an attempt he believes was made to catch him off guard.

However, McGregor’s tirade came mere hours after the Showtime president issued a statement denying claims that the incident was intentional.

“While we’re at it, f*ck Showtime too,” McGregor said. “You little weasel. Look at you little f*cking weasel, I can see it in your eyes, you’re a f*cking bitch. Cut my mic off? Cut the champ’s mic off? Hell no. You f*cking weasel.”

Although it was a somewhat subdued first press conference on Tuesday from McGregor; the UFC champ refused to be silenced in Toronto, taking further aim at Showtime, who will be in charge of the production and broadcasting of the event on Aug 26 at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena.

“They’re trying to set me up at every turn out here,” McGregor said. “They’re trying to catch me off guard…There is nothing they can do to faze me. Twenty-eight years of age, I’m getting fight checks and promoter checks. When Floyd was 28, he was on Oscar De La Hoya’s undercard.”

With the freedom of the mic and the crowd behind his every word, the UFC lightweight champion’s confidence continued to grow, this was reflected in his words and body language as we began to see the unmatchable charisma that has been associated with the Irishman since he burst onto the UFC scene.
