Rafael Dos Anjos has pulled out of next week’s UFC 196 main event versus Conor McGregor with a suspected broken foot.

The injury is reported to have happened late last week and the UFC are currently looking for a replacement with less than two weeks to go.

The news comes as a gigantic blow to McGregor and his fans with the Irishman on the verge of becoming the first fighter in UFC history to hold two belts at the same time.

While an announcement has yet to be made Donald Cerrone would be the favourite to step in and take the fight.

“Cowboy” is coming off a first round submission victory over Alex Oliveira on Sunday after failing to take the lightweight championship from Dos Anjos in December.

Another viable option is Nate Diaz, fans have been clamouring for this matchup after Diaz called out McGregor following his most recent victory.

Frankie Edgar, who many believe deserved a shot at the featherweight belt in the first place, has been ruled out with injury.

Alternatively the UFC could move the co-main event of Holly Holm versus Miesha Tate for the women’s bantamweight championship in to the main event slot.
