Rashad Evans

It looks like the rumoured bout between Alexander Gustafsson (16-2) and former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans (19-3) is off…for the time being at least.

The fight was rumoured to act as the main event for UFC Sweden on the 24th of January. But during an appearance on UFC Tonight, Blackzilians trained told host Ariel Helwani the following:

“My leg is not strong, I can’t explode off it like I normally used to be able to and it still feels unstable. My management team would not let me take the fight.” Evan’s manager Glenn Robinson, later added: “At this stage of your career there is no need to rush into a fight especially coming back from a major injury.”

Evans has not competed in almost a year since a one-sided beating of Chael Sonnen at UFC 167.
