The rumour mill has been in full flow today as middleweight giant Yoel Romero whips fans up into a frenzy regarding a potential match with Anderson Silva. The Cuban is no stranger to social media with numerous acts of humour and wit being portrayed on his Twitter page.

The substance this time has come courtesy of YouTube, where Romero who was appearing on The MMA Hour was found explaining his desire for a match-up with the Brazilian. This has come alongside Romero liking a post claiming that he would like to fight UFC legend Anderson Silva on his Twitter, solidifying his stance.

This comes after the news that middleweight champion Michael Bisping will be facing Canadian Georges St. Pierre in his next title defence, despite the promise made to Romero that he would be the next challenger for Bisping’s title.

After this news has come, it seems that Romero will need another fight until an opportunity to fight for the middleweight title presents itself. On The MMA Hour, Yoel Romero explained that he would “happily take a fight whilst he waits for Bisping, but only Anderson Silva” insisting he has beaten everyone else.

Despite Silva’s best days being behind him, a match-up between “The Spider” and “Soldier of God” is certainly an intriguing one and a fight that has mixed martial arts fans excited after Silva showed a glimpse of his former self against Derek Brunson at UFC 208.
