Tatsuya Kawajiri

When it comes to ‘been there, done that’ Tatsuya Kawajiri has pretty much done it all in mixed martial arts. From PRIDE to DREAM, to the UFC, the 37 year old fighter now steps into the octagon after his first UFC loss against Clay Guida to face Dennis Siver.

The Japanese “Crusher” understands the volatility that comes with the modern tag of MMA, but feels strongly that he can continue to hold his spot in the UFC.

“In the UFC sometimes, you lose two in a row you might get released right, so I think about that but remember I’ve never lost two in a row in my career so I want to make sure that I keep that trend and I trained in that manner too.”

Siver is aged 36, and both men have a long history in the sport, which is why Kawajiri believes their co-main event fight will bring the attraction to UFC Berlin on Saturday, June 20.

“Both Siver and myself went through so much in long career, we went through good times and bad times, so when two veterans like us fight, we will create the attraction to this fight that will never be created by young fighters.”

He added: “All these young guys evolve, instead of trying to chase them I want to slap their butt and tell them to go more because I’m better.”

Tatsuya Kawajiri also made a big prediction for his German clash: “When I win on Saturday night, by the time I step out of the Octagon, all the fans in Europe and Germany will be cheering for me.”
