Speaking ahead of UFC London Thales Leites rejected the criticism that fellow Brazilian fighters have received after Rafael Dos Anjos dropped out of the UFC 196 main event.

The news of Dos Anjos’ late withdrawal came less than a month after Brazilian heavyweight Fabricio Werdum pulled out of his title defence at UFC 196.

Former champ Jose Aldo did the same at UFC 189 and the unfortunate trend has left fans wondering whether the issue is connected to Brazilian training methods.

Leites said: “It happens all over the world not only to Brazilians. They are training very well.

“Aldo I can say is training all of the camp perfectly, his training partner was doing a great job. Some things happen in our life that we don’t know the answer.

“You have to realise that it happens you know.”

The 34-year-old is unbothered by the fact that his bout versus Gegard Mousasi is being overshadowed by the main event.

He was full of praise for Anderson Silva ahead of his fight versus England’s Michael Bisping and admitted his own interest in the main event

“of course everybody wants to watch this fight between two great fighters. All the MMA fans all over the world want to watch.

“I want to watch the main event too.”
