A lightweight clash between Tony Ferguson (20-3) and the returning Khabib Nurmagomedov (22-0) has been announced for April’s UFC on Fox 19 card.

The news which was first reported by MMAfighting.com comes fast off the heels of the news that injury forced Ferguson previous opponent Michael Johnson out of their fight at UFC 197.

Undefeated Nurmagomedov who is ranked at #2 in the UFC rankings will make his long awaited return to action after a series of injuries has meant that the 27-year old has not competed inside the octagon since his defeated current UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos (25-7) via unanimous decision at UFC on Fox 11 last April.

His opponent Ferguson who is ranked at #5 has gone 10-1 since entering the UFC is currently riding a 7-fight win streak which has seen him defeat the likes of Mike Rio, Josh Thomson and Edson Barboza (16-4) via 2nd round Brabo choke at The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale last month.

A win for either of these fighters will see them in serious contention to face the winner of the upcoming lightweight championship fight between Rafael dos Anjos and Conor McGregor at UFC 197 which is scheduled to take place on March 5th in Las Vegas.
