It was a was a night of thrills and spills at UFC 207 as a new champion was crowned and a women’s MMA pioneer fell at the T-mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Amanada Nunes rocks Rousey in UFC 207 main event

In the main event defending women’s Bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes needed under a minute to cement her status as the best fighter in the 135lb division with an almost effortless win over one-time champion Ronda Rousey.

Nunes (14-4) started off quickly, using her superior striking to take control of the centre of the octagon against the returning Rousey (12-2) and would then proceed to unleash a flurry of punches and force referee Herb Dean to call an end to the fight after just 48-seconds of the opening round.

As a result the champ who trains out of American Top Team became the first female to successfully defend the title since her downed opponent’s multi-year reign at the top of the division.

Garbrandt dances and bombs his way to bantamweight gold

In the co-main event event a new champion was crowned as Cody Garbrant showcased his ever evolving game to out manoeuvre the master of Neo Footwork Dominick Cruz.

Garbrant (11-0) kept his cool throughout the 25 minutes, sending former champion Cruz (22-2) crashing to the canvas once in third and twice in the fourth, stuffing numerous takedown attempts by “The Dominator” throughout the fight.

As a result of his outstanding performance the 25-year-old was awarded the bout unanimously on all judges’ scorecards to break the hold Cruz previously held over Team Alpha Male.

During the post-fight interview “No Love” would proceed to call out his former teammate T.J. Dillashaw who defeated John Lineker via unanimous decision earlier in the evening leading.
