In the main event of UFC Fight Night 55, American Luke Rockhold made light work of British slugger Michael Bisping with a composed performance at the Allphone arena in Sydney, Australia in the early hours of Saturday morning.
In the opening round, Bisping would set up shop in the centre of the octagon keeping Rockhold at bay with his awkward style. AKA trained Rockhold would look to counter Bisping’s pawing jab with kicks to the body as well as counter left hooks which Bisping was able to avoid. Midway through round 1, as Rockhold pressed his opponent up against the fence a clash of heads would temporally bring a halt to the proceedings and resulted in the Manchester native sustaining a cut to the head.
Once the doctor had giving Bisping the all clear and the bout was restarted the two fighters would start where they left off, tying up against the fence but would seen break free from each other. Moments later Rockhold would land a thunderous left kick to the body of the Englishman which would result in Bisping circling the octagon to avoid more damage. In the closing moments of the opening round Bisping would catch Rockhold with a leg kick which the American acknowledged as the round comes to a close.
Bisping opens the second round with a body kick, which was immediately answered with a straight left, quickly followed by a question-mark quick, then another head kick which sent Bisping crashing to the canvas. Rockhold smelling blood then followed his opponent and would grabs a slick one armed guillotine, forcing Bisping to tap.
