With just 40 days to go until the second biggest UFC event of all time takes place in Stockholm, UFC has today confirmed the full fight card and bout order for this epic fight night.
UFC on Fox 14: Gustafsson vs. Johnson will see Swedish superstar and No. 1 ranked light heavyweight contender Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson meet No. 3 ranked knockout artist Anthony “Rumble” Johnson at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.
The bout will take place in front of more than 30,000 fans, marking the second major stadium event in UFC history, and the first ever in Europe. The UFC’s previous stadium event was the record-breaking UFC 129, which was held at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada, where more than 55,000 fans watched Georges St-Pierre defeat Jake Shields.
UFC on Fox 14 will be a truly international night of fighting, featuring athletes from many countries and continents. The main card features two Swedes (Gustafsson and Corassani), five Americans (Johnson, Henderson, Bader, Davis, Sicilia) and one Dutchman (Gegard Mousasi). The preliminaries, meanwhile, showcase the best of European talent including four Russian fighters, while regions including Brazil (Cabral), Iraq (Omer) and America (Beal, Robertson) are also represented.
Four of the UFC’s top eight ranked light heavyweight fighters feature on the UFC on Fox 14 card, making this an event not-to-be-missed for fans following this hotly contested weight division.
Gustafsson narrowly lost his title bid to reigning light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones, in what was arguably the greatest light heavyweight title fight of all time, back in Sept. 2013. Now, the rejuvenated 27-year-old will look to draw off the support of a massive hometown crowd when he meets Johnson, a ferocious opponent who has secured impressive wins over the likes of Phil Davis and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
UFC on Fox 14 takes place on Saturday 24th January at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.
