UFC on Fox took place last night, July 25, at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. The long awaited rematch between UFC Bantamweight Champion T.J. Dillashaw (12-2) and former champ Renan Barao (33-3-1NC) was finally answered when the American finished his Brazilian foe via TKO once again, this time a round earlier than before, to solidify his claim to the title and prove that their first encounter was no fluke.
In the co-main event, perennial Women’s Bantamweight contender Miesha Tate (17-5) snatched her seventeenth career win and a fourth consecutive decision win since she out-pointed Jessica Eye (11-3-1NC) over three rounds. In addition, Tate’s boyfriend, Brian Caraway (20-7), also took a decision win over former interim title challenger Eddie Wineland.
Also on the main card, Brazilian Edson Barboza (16-3) handed Paul Felder (10-1) his first career loss via a unanimous decision and Joe Lauzon (25-10) knocked out Japanese legend and former Pride Lightweight Champion Takanori Gomi (35-11-1NC) with a first round stoppage.
Light-Heavyweight veteran Tom Lawler (10-5-1NC) finally returned to competition for the first time since April of 2013 following a long injury layoff. The American was rewarded with sweet success as he knocked out fellow American Gian Villante (13-6) with a solid punch in the second round.
