UFC flyweight Ian McCall has been ruled out of his UFC Fight Night 56 bout with John Lineker due to a viral infection.

With the late cancellation of the fight; which was due to go down in the early hours of Sunday morning, Lineker has also been removed from the Uberlandia event.

Before heading to Brazil, #3 ranked McCall spoke to MMAWeekly.com’s Majority Radio, informing them he hadn’t been feeling well recently:

“I probably should not say this, but I just got my blood work back, my white blood cell count is through the roof, I’m sick, over trained, or whatever it may be. That’s what happens, that’s the fight game, it’s not an excuse. I’m healthier than I’ve ever been. This is just how it goes.”

It appeared as if the American had recovered from his illness at yesterday’s UFC Fight Night 56 weigh-ins with McCall making the 126lb weight limit on his first attempt, after Lineker came in 0.7lbs over on his first attempt. The Brazilian later managed to cut down to the limit, however it seems now, to no avail.

It is not known how long McCall’s viral infection will keep him on the sidelines, but MMA Plus will keep you up to date with this story as it develops.
