The long awaited fight between UFC middleweight Champion Chris Weidman and #3 ranked contender Vitor Belfort has been called off once again.

The UFC announced yesterday that Weidman suffered a rib injury in training, and the headline bout was cancelled for a second time with the co-main event of UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey vs. top contender Cat Zingano now set to fill the headline slot on February 28 at UFC 184 in Los Angeles.

Wediman (12-0) vs. Belfort (24-10) was first set for UFC 173 in May, but the challenger was forced out following the ban of Testosterone Replacement Therapy, of which Belfort was heavily reliant on. The 37-year-old Brazilian needed time to prepare his body without the performance enhancer, and Weidman went on to best Lyoto Machida by way of unanimous decision.

Weidman vs. Belfort was then reset for UFC 181 on Dec. 6, but this time the champion suffered a broken hand that pushed the fight back to Feb. 28.

The schedule for Weidman’s return is yet to be announced.
