BAMMA 24

BAMMA have announced the first six bouts for BAMMA 24: England vs.  Ireland on February, 27, 2016 at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland.

Two super fights top the bill, with Frenchman Cheick Kone to defend his BAMMA middleweight title against the returning John Phillips in the main event.

BAMMA Champion Kone (13-3), who defeated Andy DeVent at BAMMA 21 to capture the gold,  is currently on a six fight win streak which include stoppages over Chris Fields and Benny Brinsa.

Wales’ Phillips (18-6-1) has signed a multi-fight deal with BAMMA and is dubbed “The White Mike Tyson” for his brutal style. Now training out of SBG Ireland, Phillips is 2-0 in 2015 and will look to kickstart next year with a world championship around his waist.

BAMMA featherweight champion Tom DuQuesnoy makes the drop down to bantamweight and will challenge Ireland’s own Damien Rooney.

Jackson-Wink MMA fighter “Firekid” (11-1-1) fought in Dublin at BAMMA 22, in a close decision win over Brendan Loughnane to successfully defend his 145lb crown. Opponent Rooney (10-4-1) already holds wins over Alan Philpott and Bryan Creighton and could catapult himself into title contention with a win over the French MMA whiz.

A welterweight contest between Peter Queally and Nathan “Mr. Bag & Tag” Jones has the potential to steal the spotlight at BAMMA 24, in a bout which will have strong implications for the future of the division.

SBG Ireland fighter, “The Showstopper” Queally (6-2) is well travelled in his MMA experience, and will fight in Italy against Roberto Rigamonti before the end of the year, but a resilient Jones (9-2) who is currently on a five fight win streak will be a very tough test in Dublin.

The Ireland vs. England theme continues, when the ”The Housewives’ Choice” Chris Fields (10-7-1) takes on BAMMA Lonsdale Middleweight champion Andy ‘The Lion’s Paw’ DeVent (12-10). After a hometown loss to Christopher Jacquelin at BAMMA 22, Fields will look for his first win since 2012 against one of England’s toughest middleweights.

Also added to the card, SBG Ireland’s Paul Byrne (6-0) faces UKMMA veteran Bola Omolyele (8-4) and after a close fight against Kane Mousah at BAMMA 22, Myles Price (8-6) returns to faced armbar specialist Mario Saaed (6-2).
